President's Message
Septermber 1, 2010
Did you enjoy the recent Lake Players event? [Superb!]   Wasn’t the Photo Show wonderful? [Great!]   Are you looking forward to the Art Show? [You bet!]
Did you ever wonder who organizes and staffs the many events that SMAC sponsors? [Yeah, who does that stuff?]   The answer is that you do. [Me?]
SMAC has no staff, no employees, no office and no full time director. [No, you’re kidding, right?]   All of the things that SMAC does is done by volunteers like you and I. [Holy cow!]   Some of the things that we do are quite labor intensive, whether it is coordinating events, setting up displays, baking cupcakes, greeting patrons, or many other activities. [You mean those events don’t just happen by themselves?]   We count on volunteers to help staff these events. [Really? Volunteers?]   Often we will send out an e-mail blast to the members asking for help. [I’ve seen them but just assume it’s all covered.]
The next time you open your e-mail and see a request for help, please take the time to respond, and volunteer your time. [You got it – I’ll be better.]   It is your organization. We can’t do it without you.[OK, I'm there!]
What’s new? Save The Date, October 26 for SMAC’s annual meeting. We are planning a potluck event, and will have some home grown talent as entertainment showcasing SMAC members. More details to follow.
SMAC is now on Facebook. You can become a fan by clicking on the link on our web page. If you are technologically challenged, ask your children or grandchildren to show you how.
