Stephanie Klein-Davis

Stephanie Klein-Davis, with over 25 years experience as a photojournalist, is currently working for the Roanoke Times and freelances for a number of organizations. Putting her degrees in fine arts photography and writing and photojournalism into practice, Stephanie has taught classes in both digital and darkroom photography at Virginia Western Community College (current) and Hollins University. She holds a B.A. in Communications from Tulane University and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of South Carolina College of Journalism.

Stephanie has won numerous awards for photojournalism and has displayed her photography in many regional exhibits. “I’m always looking for photographers, both amateur and professional, who are taking risks with composition and light,” Stephanie said. “Today’s amateur photographers have been exposed to a wide range of styles and are quite daring.” This is Stephanie’s first time judging the SMAC Photo Contest.


Sebastiano "Sam" Stia

Sam is the owner/president of Image Group 360 and a freelance photographer for numerous publications. He holds Masters Degrees in Educational Technology and Administration from Norwich University graduated Thomas Edison State College with bachelor degrees in Photography and Digital Imaging, and associate’s degrees in both Photography and Electrical Engineering from Mercer County College.

Sam taught at Mercer County College as Associate Professor of Photography for 6 years and as a technology teacher for 7 years. He lived in Norway and worked as a staff photographer for Larvik Morgen Avis while also contributing to various publications. He worked at Dow Jones as a graphic designer, and as Director of Photography for K&N Laboratory in Princeton, Randolph, and London UK.
