The Smith Mountain Arts Council (SMAC) offers a number of ongoing activities briefly described here.
This is an annual non-juried exhibition of original artwork in a variety of genres by regional artists of all ages. Several cash awards totaling $1500 are presented at the opening reception. A People's Choice award is also presented at the close of the exhibition.
This is an annual contest open to photographers at all levels - casual, ameteur and professional. It showcases local photographic talent and offers cash awards in a number of photo categories.
This large mixed chorus is made up of local singers who perform popular and traditional music in four-part harmony. The group puts on an annual themed concert, usually during the first weekend in June.
The Smith Mountain Arts Council promotes, sponsors, and arranges funding for local events on a year-round basis. Events include the Roanoke Symphony, jazz performances, coffee house concerts and other musical activities. All events are open to the public.
Lake Players meet four to five times a year to read and perform plays written by well-known playwrites, as well as those written by our own talented lake writers

Lake Writers meet twice a month to critique each other's work, exchange information about writing and publishing, and encourage all forms of the literary arts. The group sponsors an annual writing contest for local middle school and high school students.
