Violin Students Holiday Concert
Saturday, Dec 3, 2011
Nov 28, 2011 -
Students in the Violin Program of the Franklin County School System will present the 2011 Holiday Concert on Saturday, December 3, at 3 p.m. at Franklin Heights Baptist Church.
Mr. Geronimo Oyenard, violinist with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and the violin instructor for the program, will showcase 68 students who are currently enrolled in the elementary progam, as well as seven students from Benjamin Franklin Middle School who are now continuing their studies with him on a private basis.
The Violin Program, now in its fourth year, is offered at four elementary schools: Boones Mill, Ferrum, Lee M. Waid, and Rocky Mount. Students receive weekly lessons during the school day, and there is no cost to the parents except for instrument rental.
The Holiday Concert will serve as a fundraiser for the Violin Program. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, and there is no cost for children under 12. Tickets can be purchased at Hall’s Music, at each of the four elementary schools, and at the door. Donations will also be accepted.
