Workshop and Concert with Joe Jencks
Saturday, July 25, 2009 - 4050 Bluebird Lane, Salem, VA
Workshop: 2pm - 5pm, Concert: 7:30pm
Touring performer, songwriter, entertainer, and educator Joe Jencks will present a workshop titled “Songwriting as Journalism” on Saturday, July 25 from 2 to 5pm at Greg Trafidlo and Judy Larson’s house in Salem, followed by a concert at 7:30pm.
Jencks has won numerous songwriting awards for his original work, and is highly regarded as a song interpreter. His songs merge musical beauty, social consciousness, and spiritual exploration. One critic says this of Jencks: “Joe Jencks is the type of musician who will cause you to drop that morning newspaper or pull your car to the side of the road when you hear his songs. He is the type of artist that will turn heads in his direction when he walks onto a stage. His voice will instantly draw you into his passionate songs. He is the type of musician whose music will become a part of you.”
The workshop will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by Joe Jencks in Concert.
Cost for the workshop and concert is $20.00 for SVSA members ($25.00 for non-members). The concert alone is $10.00.
