Please note these Rule Changes for the 2010 Photo Contest:

  • All photos must be framed with wire hanger.
  • Frames with sawtooth hangers will be rejected.
  • Maximum size has been reduced to 28" x 30".
  • Photo titles must be submitted on entry form.

2010 Contest Rules

Who Can Enter?

The contest is open to ALL photographers (casual, amateur and professional).

What Can Be Entered?

You can enter up to two (2) original photos in each of the following Categories:

  • Sunrise/sunset or any other SML area scene
  • Landscape and historical locations
  • People
  • Wildlife and pets
  • Architecture
  • Close-up, Macro or Still life
  • Digital Manipulation
  • Youth 18 years or under (or enrolled HS student)

To enter photos in the Youth Category, you must be 18 years or younger, or an enrolled HS student. Photos entered in the Youth Category may be of any subject matter and will be judged as a single group. All other categories are open to everyone including those under 18 or HS students.

For all categories (except Digital Manipulation), photographs should not be altered beyond standard optimization (cropping; removal of red eye; removal of dust and scratches; corrections to color, brightness, contrast; etc.)

For the Digital Manipulation category, photos may be manipulated, merged, and otherwise altered without limitation.

There is a limit of two (2) entries per category per photographer.

Photos may be color or black and white. There is no special category for black and white.

Previous contest winning photographs may not be entered.

SMAC reserves the right to refuse any photograph that it considers inappropriate.

How and When to Enter

Get an official entry form (download Rules and Entry Form) (pdf, 3 pages, 0.46 MB) , fill it out, and submit it with the proper entry fee to:

Entry Fees

Non-SMAC members $8 per entry $7 per entry
SMAC members $7 per entry $6 per entry
Youth - 18 or under, or enrolled HS student $5 per entry $4 per entry

Entries must be framed photos with wire hanger (no saw-tooth hangers). The complete mount (outside dimensions of the frame) may be no smaller than 5” x 7” or larger than 28” x 30”.

Other

Delivery of Photos: Photographs will be received at Trinity Ecumenical Parish (TEP) on Monday, May 24, 2010 between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM

Pick up Photos:Photographs must be picked up at TEP on Monday May 31, 2010 between 4:00 and 6:00 PM, or Tuesday June 1, 2010 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Show Dates: All entries will be displayed for public viewing at TEP on May 29 – May 31, 2010.

Reception: There will be a public reception with award presentations on Friday, May 28, 2010 starting at 7:30 PM.

Photos for Sale: If your entry is for sale, indicate the price on the back of the photo. All sales will be conducted directly between the photographer and buyer.

Awards

  • Best in Show: $300
  • 1st in Category: $100
  • 2nd in Category: $50
  • Honorable Mention: $25
